Let the old saying "I fear the Greeks, even if they bring gifts" (Latin: Timeo Danaos et dona ferentes) be a warning to every patriotic African leader if the US or Western European governments come to them with so-called "good will " .
Typical US hypocrisy, when it suits them democracy is all important, when it doesn't it's also A-Okay.
The US seeks to drive a wedge into region and divide and factionalise African countries just as they have always done, to suit themselves, whilst gaining what they can, urrespective of how much harm it does to the population of African countries, this has always been the US "Nodus Operandi", divide and conquer.
When it suits the US their friends suddenly become their enemies, with Iraq being a prime example.
It's time for people and countries to realise that any association with the US is dangerous.
"....As the BBC unwittingly explains, such antipathy towards Traoré stems from establishing himself “as a standard-bearer in resisting ‘imperialism’ and ‘neocolonialism’.”.."
The imperial stenographers of the BBC of course declined to mention that the leading supposedly liberal democratic nations is attempting to declare such socio-economic choices to be "terrorism".
But then again the BBC represents the nation that itself at one point subjected like half of the planet to the terror, murder and exploitation of naked colonial rule...
I believe the US put sanctions on these countries preventing their citizens from travelling to the US. The very next day these countries returned the favour and put sanctions on the US preventing US citizens from travelling to them. Now diplomacy starts!
Saw you on grayzone and it was hard to hear you half the time. Can you please get a cheap normal microphone instead of using the built in one that picks up echo/reverb?
Man Russia is in control of everything - Epstein files and African Juntas! Excellent reporting as always Kit - can't wait for the article you discussed on The Grayzone livestream!
Nigeria, despite being the continents' largest nation and most likely superpower is deep under the soell of the neoliberal empire. Their political and business elite are blindly, shortsighted greedy and in bed with the so calked west, which exploits their nation and people.
While China is innovating, educating its people snd uplifting them, Nigeria's "leaders" have their people in horrific schools, swimming in garbage, and in major cities that even feature many unpaved major roafs with potholes nearlyba metre deep. While chibe has a tech i dustry, in Nigeria there is hadly any decent internet access in many places, and they commmunicate on...Whatsapp. This is a nation that will NEVER lead Africa anywhere. Don't wait for that cavalry - it aint coming. Africa's independce will only be achieved desoite Nigeria, never because of it.
That's what the AES has to cope with: sabotage from fellow Africans nearby. Same as the previous era of "scramble for Africa".
Don't fall for this Atlantist deception. On going assassination attempts, "decapitations", "Francafric" more virulent than ever through its pocket dictators, Talon in Benin, le talon d'Achille, Ouattara in Ivory Coast and Doumbouya in Guinea, while Chad is now back in the fold. The Sionists are all over the place. I won't mention the Congo, Cameroon, Sudan, Ethiopia...without counting the new players, Turkey, UAE, Saudis...The Scramble for Africa is more alive ´ than ever and our Bolivarian trio is under enormous pressure. Since when are you taking the BBC as a source of info?

The same for Europe and Britain but they will keep fiddling in African affairs.
I have been waiting my whole 76yrs for this to happen.
Brilliant, thank you!

This is an incredible essay. Thank you for writing it. I gained much perspective.

Well. If the BBC said it, it must be true.

The Americans are smart to use more carrot and less stick.
A reliable source of info on French Africa is Thomas Dietrich at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swzfFrxIl_c
