Zelikow did write an excellent very intriguing book, The Road Less Traveled: The Secret Turning Point of the Great War, 1916-17 (2021), about how Wilson and especially Colonel House missed an opportunity to negotiate an end to the war in december-january 2016-7. Have you looked at attribution of the Khobar Towers attack? Although Al Qaeda obviously seems the most likely perpetrator, in mid 2001, FBI and DOJ charged "Saudi Hezbollah" based on torture "confessions" obtained in Saudi Arabia. The Khobar investigation is worth revisiting. In early days of Bush administration, Mueller was acting DAG. In that capacity, he transferred the Khobar investigation from DC office (which firmly resisted Saudi Hezbollah attribution in Clinton administration ) and assigned it to EDVA where the lead attorney on the case was ....James Comey. (Comey and Mueller go way back.) One can't help but wonder whether 9/11 might have turned out differently if Mueller and Comey had focussed in early 2021 on investigating Al Qaeda rather than charging "Saudi Hezbollah" in mid-2021.
