it is heartbreaking for me as a former USSR citizen, especially to read again how Gorbachev's government did nothing against the 5th column and let the country be destroyed. It appears that Gorbachev was put in power precisely for that purpose, to assist in the destruction.
Today, the former USSR republics have fascist and neo-Nazi regimes. The Anglosohere wanted to destroy USSR to establish fascism.
Putin saved the country from oligarchs. What do you suggest should have been done instead of what Putin did in the 1990's? Leave Browder, Khodorkovsky, Berezovsky in power? What are you talking about, who told you that Russia is "oligarchs"? You are quoting articles from Russophobes regime-changers and believe that they stand with my country? And why do you conflate modern Russia with USSR?
They are the assholes that pushed the equally toxic as Astra Zeneca- Sputnik V shot.
It's just like how in the USA they shifted from the Rockefeller, Carnegie, JP Morgan oligarchs to Bill Gates, Warren Buffett and others.
I don't conflate modern Russia with the USSR.
I'm saying the USSR before it was sold out by Gorbachev was better than the shit show we have today.
Why do you label those links as "regime-changers"? They call out the opposition too.
There's no good guys when it comes to politics.
Remember how Russia didn't do fuck for Libya? And we saw them run from Syria leaving it to extremists. The Ukraine is another quagmire that makes no sense. They're enemies yet they pay them to transit gas.
It's Orwell's 1984 and you're the type of person to think that between Eurasia, Eastasia, and Oceania there's good guys and bad guys.
Sorry, they're all in cahoots, even China.
They don't give a shit about the nations they destroy.
I am sure you have never been to Russia, don't speak Russian and get all your info from hearsay. It is a shame that you dare judge my country as an exemplary white supremacist from the Anglosphere. Dismissing all history, political and geopolitical circumstances and Western efforts to destroy us. Using an infantile claim "there are no good guys". Shame.
It is undeniable that "Putin" poisoned the population of Russia with the Jewish toxic shot of the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology..
BTW, infectious diseases have never been proven to exist. And viruses have never been isolated - let alone proven to cause disease.
Repeating lies many times works for 90% of people. The good news is that it was 99% of people only 5 years ago.
It least Sputnik wasn't using an mRNA vector and thus didn't represent a wild genetic experiment on millions of human beings..
Nor - as far as I am aware - was it very badly manufactured in terms of GMP like the 'free West' clot shots, nor full of strange and very disturbing adjuvants about which all types of wild theories abound...
Nor - as far as I am aware - have there been massive numbers suffering vaccine damage and subsequent deaths to anything like the levels in the US and Western Europe..
I tend to agree with you. The oligarchs may not have been smashed . . . but they were leashed, or curbed. I have watched Russia positively thrive vice the conditions existing in, say, 1995.
Actually it was Yeltsin's final act of defiance.. to promote a man from relative obscurity whom he knew to be sound and who would have the strength to turn on the rapacious greedy ghouls that had surrounded, manipulated and bullied him..
And Putin did. And did it well. And threw out the thieves..
Is he entirely free of them? No. Moreover his ruling 'clique' is far from united in their ambitions and agenda. He is constantly needing to balance and mediate between powerful conflicting interests. While as a lawyer Putin insists on everything being above board constitutionally. This acts as a rein upon some of them. Not all the time, admittedly.
Rob's criticism of him is seriously distorted and largely a projection of how he perceives his own politicians act.
It's not that there are no regimes here in Western Europe, just that they're camouflaged by fake democracies. Here in Italy, for example, we have two seemingly opposing camps, as per the P2 Masonic lodge's agenda, but when they have to obey US orders, they all agree to be subservient: one of the latest issues is the Iranian situation. Unfortunately, until the Rothschild financial system of central banks is over, people won't understand; they'll have to arrive empty-handed, although in my opinion that won't be long.
I can't be the only one who immediatley thought about Maidan Square and the revolution of dignity. "Why come up with new tricks, when the old tricks keep working so well?"
Yes, the Maidan comes to mind. When I first heard of Bucha, and people said it was staged, I thought they were crazy. But now, I know just how crazy all this is!
In some countries, the lies have a life of their own and it will take longer for the populace to wake up.Thank you Kit for this information .It is the first time I read of this and now understand why the hate Russia continues unabated in the Baltic states , not that it is not the same in many European countries.
Thank you for your kind words, dear Guy. There is a all-encompassing victimhood mythos that has been eagerly adopted throughout Central and Eastern Europe, the Baltics being the most brazen and deranged. It not only serves to attribute blame for local ills of every sort old and new to "Russian occupation", but conceal nationwide complicity in the Holocaust and collaboration with the Nazis. At a national level this is bad enough, but the Baltics have very successfully perpetuated their distorted, self-serving version of history elsewhere. It is increasingly accepted by Western governments and the EU.
As soon as I started reading I felt that sinking feeling and early on I told myself it felt like a Maidan deja vu.
Wonderfully written and eye opening.
I can't help but feel that everytime a government finds it necessary to criminalize an issue or suppress information, it's already telling everyone the truth is ugly.
Thank you for your exceptionally kind words, and for sharing! On the subject of criminalising ugly truths, Lithuania has led the way in legislating away inconvenient history in other areas. In 2010, laws were passed not only equating Nazi genocide with “Soviet occupation”, but shifting blame for the Holocaust solely onto German invading forces. In reality, after the Red Army fled the Baltics and before the Nazis arrived in 1941, average Lithuanians massacred most of the local Jewish population. More died in numerical and percentage terms than Jews in Germany during World War II. Many of the killers went on to form the Forest Brothers, and there are statues and memorials to these butchers all over the Baltics. Again, it’s illegal to discuss their Nazi past publicly and journalists and publishers have been jailed as a result. All this grants nationalist politicians license to mutate mass post-war population displacement by Soviet authorities into an example of historic Muscovite repression, when in reality those deported were directly implicated in the Holocaust and shipped off to Siberia with their families to think about what they’d done.
I had no idea. In general, it's a shame our history books are so bland and present simplistic narratives, which then allows politicians to weave convenient narratives they sell. Sunlight, transparency and open debate remain undefeated as the best remedies to avoid repeating tragedies of the past.
Inconvenient History indeed. Everybody should read it. It's enlightening. And if everyone did, the world would change forever.
As usual, to find out what we should be thinking about, look for what they don't allow us to think about, whether via the psychology of taboo, or the iron boot of the law. There it goes again, see, stamp, stamp, stamp.
This is the one-stop archive of the lesser known foul plays of the West. How you made them so easy to follow without my having any prior knowledge is a marvel.
The absolute disregard of our leaders/historians to hoodwink the people. I did not know this with regard to Lithuania. Looking forward to my early demise.
Excellent reporting. On a personal level, coming to terms with what really happened in 1989 at 天安門 is the most difficult because of the innumerable layers of obfuscation. At the time, I was flatting in Auckland with people recently arrived from Shanghai. A lot of my friends were studying Chinese at University. I knew people studying at Beijing University. From memory, I think we were monitoring daily the protests/encampments much before April. Pre-internet, it was newspapers, radio, tv and letters from friends. Post-4-June, eye witness accounts were manipulated. At the time, we didn’t realise the level of information and psychological warfare to which we were being exposed.
At the time, I remember had an instinctive feeling that something was off/unnatural/weird about the events, but was far too young to really assess or understand it all.
Sometimes i think that's the problem. Humans - even children - are all naturally well equipped to detect lies and BS, but we convince ourselves otherwise. And that only gets worse, they older we get.
Funny,I participated in Gene Sharp like actions when I was young and very stupid. We were all very radicalized, incited to be violent, intolerant and blatently hypocrite about our role. Of course we belived that we are liberating country from "evil totalitarian system" ,once we "liberated ourselves",most of us understood what happened and became cured from anti-communism ,capitalism, human rights BS, n "western values". Luckily I never killed or hurted my countrymans, so I can still look myself in the mirror.
Fascinating. You shouldn’t be too harsh on yourself. Sharp’s work is very enticing, cleverly marketing being a footsoldier for regime change, capitalism and Western imperialism as a cool lifestyle choice.
It is very wicked, perfidious kind of agitation. 10 years of sanctions,we were all convinced that it is socialism to blame. They ( NGOs, Social Trainers, Friends of democracy, Helsinki HRW and all these cover nazi orgasations) whith their cool western journalists,"human rights activists" entered into us like in the melted cheese. We were all ready prepared, all hanging in same places before the time came to "non violent change" British Council, Alliance Français,American Library, Goethe's institute. We were convinced that we will have Sweden kind social democracy, keep everything from socialism but enjoy capitalism EU style. What we had was at the end NATO bombs with depleted uranium. Finaly, exile and shitty jobs in "democratic" west.
Only two god things came out of this. First I made my life elsewhere, have lovely family. And second,I've cured myself from all of infantile sicknesses of leftism, and became a real communist and anti imperialist.
It's so eery, there are seemingly countless "fake left" channels out there. Hungry for more insider views on what is happening in Cuba I came across an interview with a very young Cuban woman, who had lost connection with the Cuban Revolution. It wasn't that she was "right" wing, it was just weird cultural discourse/ identity politics replacing a genuine understanding of what was and is at stake, why there has had to be resistance to the US destruction/ blockad/ occupation/regime change. She said something that was at once understandable but incredibly self defeating when asked if the Global South is being mobilized to protect Cuba, "we are tired, why is it us that have to suffer, it should be Europe, they created America." As if it were enough to simply demand rights and point out privelege.. I can just see these kind of Sharp informed tactics being very liberally applied to young people in Cuba right now.
Good point. Sanctions, isolation makes young people more easily defeatist . Few promises, rebelius rap or rock video and they are ready to go kill ,or die for consumer society. They can't understand at what cost their grandparents constructed Cuba ... They will one day, when they will work in some shitty pizza place,in Barcelona or Boston . When every idiot will talk to them if they're nothing. Only when you feel the tender kiss of capitalism, you understand what you've lost.
We have had trainings in non violent communication, but incited to act aggressively against police. Learned "norvegen" style peaceful revolt, but proposed to be trained in neighbouring countries how to do guerilla warfare if our peaceful "revolution" fails, just in case. Equally we have had infinite propaganda materials, t-shirts, stickers, mugs , backpack, badges. Local rock ,punk, rap bands played for us cheering "peaceful actions" we had a great mesmerising time destroying ourselves and our country. Your work is precious, you speak truth, because I know how it works,i've been inside.
Thanks for this work, shedding light on the methods and history used here and in other places, to gaslight people and sow chaos.
That this coalition of choas agents is now busy sacrificing the lives of hundreds of thousands of young Ukranians as pawns in a proxy war against Russia, is no surprise. These are sick, evil people.
Gorbachev was a traitor who desperately sought an accommodation with US imperialism to preserve the ruling Stalinist bureaucracy. What was needed in the USSR was a political revolution which preserved the advantages of the planned economy but took power from the parasitical bureaucracy and into the hands of the working class and peasantry.
History also reveals how Gorbachev was a useless administrator whose so called glasnost and perestroika 'reforms' were pathetic attempts to try con the public into believing that democratic change was coming. Following his downfall by the even bigger traitor Yeltsin the rest of the ruling party bureaucracy switched overnight into supporting the disastrous re-introduction of capitalism. The people of the Russian federation and other former republics of the USSR are living with the consequences of this to the present day. All are governed by a parasitic oligarchy whose sole motive is the grasping accumulation of ever greater amounts of wealth and power at the expense of the rest of the population. We should not forget that Putin was part of the Yeltsin entourage known as the 'family'.
I am sure I am not the only one to hypothesise that the Deep State of Russia wanted to remove all these nations that were sucking the tits of Mother Russia.
The USSR was not run like British India. Resources went cheaply from Russia to all of these clowns. That is why they are currently trying to take back these resources by force.

Yep and since him, every Russian leader has been a tool of the oligarchs that Gorbachev created by dissolving the USSR.
Here's good blogs that calls out the bullshit Putin does along with the oligarchs.

But how much Putin actually knew about this is a moot point. And an issue always zealously avoided by those determined to find fault.
Needless to say, it's a convenient narrative for The West.

It's infantile to think in black and white.
It doesn't matter whether I'm Russian or live in Russia.
I am able to read what is going on.
How do you explain Sputnik V? They poisoned their own people like the West did.
That's not a good thing.
You said it yourself. One quagmire at a time... Being sucked into Libya and Syria would have been disastrous.
You grossly underestimate Putin's tackling of the oligarchs..
Yes, Putin is a politician and there are always blemishes and murky secrets.
But he is a leader, a statesman and by comparison to most Western leaders a man of great integrity..
I tend to agree with you. The oligarchs may not have been smashed . . . but they were leashed, or curbed. I have watched Russia positively thrive vice the conditions existing in, say, 1995.
Putin was groomed for power by the Yeltsin clique, he was part of its entourage.
he saved the country. It would have been dismembered already in the 90's otherwise.
It was already dismembered.
Anyone else could have done better than Yeltsin.
It's just like how we got the buffoon Biden only to make Trump look better even though he's also crooked.
Actually it was Yeltsin's final act of defiance.. to promote a man from relative obscurity whom he knew to be sound and who would have the strength to turn on the rapacious greedy ghouls that had surrounded, manipulated and bullied him..
