Unfortunately, the American public, more so than the European public, is intentionally misinformed by elites. If global citizens don’t stop the political and financial elites, they will take the entire world into the abyss. They’ve already done so with climate disaster policies and ongoing wars. People, we’ve got to stop them before they kill us all.

It’s not new, alas!

More so than the European public? Support for a ceasefire/settlement is higher in America than in Britain. America has actual elected officials who want to end support to Zelensky. Does Britain have even one such official? Notice too how the British media relentlessly pester and harass some of these American officials such as MTG. She told Sky to f off. You don't know what you're talking about.

I wasn’t talking about specific cases. In general, the Europeans, the general public, are much more educated about world affairs than US. Legit publications are everywhere if you care to search.

🤣🤣🤣 Europe is where the "abyss" you mentioned earlier always begins. Always. 2 world wars, 100 million dead. That's what your informed citizenry produced. Now they're going for act 3.

Even though I am a third generation Russian, have never been there, was never taught Russian by my grandmother nor my father growing up, when I read your excellent article, I feel proud.

Thank you!

Hillary, thank you for recommending this article! Read it, including some of the comments. I found the article informative like this one. Some of the comments are so misguided.

That happens to be very typical of comments to just about all of Unz Review's articles.

The issues are not about which nation is superior. It is about ending wars before they destroy all of us. It is also about dismantling a system run by political and wealthy cabals to ensure that their sipping days are over and people will no longer allow them bloodsuckers to destroy us for their gains. To safeguard what’s left in this world requires getting rid-off these cabals. It is not about which nation is better.

It goes back to my point that workers are not responsible of this. It is political and economic cabals.

Great article. Thanks for posting it. I wish this would become more widely known. I taught modern European history for over thirty years and always explained to my American students what disgusting role the western powers played during the Russian revolution. They had never heard of this. The vast majority of the western public is being propagandized into ignorance. IT WORKS!

Great historical perspective on the anti Russia lunacy of western imperialism.

The French and British also pushed the germans into invading Russia in 1941, counter intelligence reports on how weak the Russians were and how they could be easily defeated were fed to Berlin on a daily basis in the hope that the Germans would take the bait.

With the invasion of Russia in 1941, the French and Brits hoped for a German victory and an exhausted Germany, easy to defeat, and then the territory of Russia to divide up between them.

A German defeat was an excellent second preference, the removal of a great power from Europe.

However, they underestimated Russia once again and by 1944 the British and French were in panic mode as the red army stormed west. Having no choice but to bring the US into mainland Europe to stop the red army, the British and French replaced one great power in Europe with two even greater powers, flinging the British and French into the dustbin of irrelevance from where they are today.

Good article.

"Memoirs and other historical documents obtained by later researchers seem to generally support Flynn’s accusations by indicating that Roosevelt ordered his diplomats to exert enormous pressure upon both the British and Polish governments to avoid any negotiated settlement with Germany, thereby leading to the outbreak of World War II in 1939."

A very important reminder that we are still living inside fake histories. This is directly relevant to today's war in Ukraine, where Boris Johnson pressured Zelenskyy to continue the war and not make peace, after the Kiev Agreements had turned out to be just a ruse to buy time before war could start. Russia has been provoked to retaliate in a manner very reminiscent of that of Germany at the start of the Second World War. Good to remember that Roosevelt was in on it right from the start.

And what has Russia done to be "our" implacable enemy? Very little, compared with what the West has done to innumerable states since the 90s, spreading mayhem. The "worst" thing

Russia has done was to trust their US opposite numbers when no NATO expansion was promised. It's become increasingly clear those promises were made with fingers crossed, though perhaps Baker was sincere. Cue rewriting of history and the treatment for anyone who points to the actual history. Ashamed to be British.

I believe the British rulers from the start in 1914 had as a unspoken war goal to weaken both Russia and Germany. I have a feeling that when they promised Constantinople to the Russians in Syces-Picot, they never had the intention of honoring it.

The comfortable, obese West, controlled by pederasts, despises the East, does not understand its way of thinking, and greedily desires only its natural treasures ! They have no idea about the mentality of the Easterners, since they have not understood them for centuries, moreover, they do not learn from their mistakes, and that is why their armies always retreated from the Russian steppes with bloody heads, except for those whose bodies served as fertilizer for the crops of the following years ! The stupid West does not know that the harder they hammer the Easterners, the better steel they will become, and the steel will be a sword that will cut their throats ! The softened Westerner doesn't want to die for his country anymore, especially not for the bankers, but the Russian, if the Rodina is in danger, they volunteer in unity, not caring if they have to sacrifice themselves for the country ! However, it is good to keep in mind that where are the most chess grandmasters, in the West or in the East ?

What is often forgotten in these conspiracies and foreign 'ventures' are physical distances, logistics, and above all, the manpower requirements to control such vast territories.

I have often thought that Europeans never understood the scale of Russia. It is hard to truly understand 1000 KMs unless you have to drive it even walk it.

I feel that this attitude doomed the Germans in ww2

Yes, and it fed delusions Ukraine could defeat Russia too. Russia spans 11 timezones. 11.

Exactly. People who can cycle from one town to another just don't get it. Robert Harris's 'fictional' scenario in Fatherland was a far more realistic aspiration for Germany than the actual reality that eventually played out.

I have not read a lot on this issue but I believe there is quite a lot indications that GB supported the Bolsheviks and the Whites, but ultimately abandoned the Whites because they supported the recall of the monarchy which GB saw as a greater threat to its interests in Central Asia and India. There are some historians who argue that the Brits wanted to topple the Tsar for the reasons mentioned by Kit, but principally to eliminate a rival in central Asia and India. Trotsky did a deal with GB to cede all of Iran to GB (who wanted the recently discovered Persian oil), in return for British support in the civil war. Richard Poe has written a book on the British role in the Bolshevik Revolution
